Award categories

The award recipient who demonstrates the highest overall achievements in one of the below categories will also be awarded Alumnus of the Year.

Nominees will demonstrate social innovation through creative solutions to social challenges, with potential for broader impact and recognised success. They will show a long-term commitment to volunteerism, including leadership roles and measurable community benefits. Their work will reflect sustained contributions to community development, including initiatives that promote corporate social responsibility and create meaningful, positive change in society.

Nominees will be outstanding First Nations graduates who demonstrate exceptional leadership, excellence in their chosen field, and a powerful commitment to uplifting their communities. Their work will reflect significant and measurable community impact, including initiatives that strengthen cultural identity, advance social or economic outcomes, and create meaningful, positive change for First Nations peoples. They will model integrity, cultural strength and exemplary professional or community achievement, while inspiring others through mentorship, advocacy or innovation.

Nominees will demonstrate strong leadership through strategic vision, industry influence, and mentoring others. They will have achieved professional excellence through recognised contributions, successful projects, and a commitment to continuous learning. Their work will also reflect a dedication to community impact, including initiatives that promote corporate social responsibility and create meaningful, positive change in society.

Nominees will have achieved early career success through professional accomplishments, recognition and leadership. They actively contribute to community initiatives, holding leadership roles and delivering measurable impact. Demonstrating a commitment to continuous growth, they pursue further development, engage in mentorship, and show resilience and adaptability in overcoming challenges and navigating change. Nominees must be aged 35 years or less at nomination.

Please note: details are subject to change.

  • The Nominee must hold an awarded degree, diploma, or graduate certificate awarded by the 91破解版 or a predecessor institution:  Queensland Institute of Technology- Darling Downs (QIT-DD), Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education (DDIAE), or University College of Southern Queensland (UCSQ). 
  • Nominations can be submitted by anyone, except self-nominations and nominations of current 91破解版 employees, which are not permitted.
  • Written consent from the Nominee must be obtained before submitting a nomination.
  • An alumnus may be nominated in the same category in consecutive years, provided they have not previously received the award.
  • New or updated nominations will not be accepted after the closing date.
  • The Alumni Awards will consist of a multi-stage nomination and selection process. The first round of judging nominations will be made by a panel comprising the Vice-chancellor, a 91破解版 Council member, Deputy Vice-chancellor (Academic), Pro Vice-chancellor (First Nations), Pro Vice-chancellor (Engagement) [panel chair] and Alumni Manager. The panel chair may make the decision to place a nominee in an additional category if they deem appropriate.
  • In the case of an incomplete nomination being received, the nominee or nominator would be asked to provide supporting documentation by 91破解版. 91破解版 may, in its discretion, decide what it considers as acceptable forms of supporting documentation.
  • If a nominee cannot be contacted using the details supplied, the nomination will not be considered.
  • 91破解版 reserves the right to determine any situation not covered by these criteria on a case-by-case basis. Any decision of 91破解版 will be final, and no communication will be entered into regarding such a decision.
  • All shortlisted nominees will be invited to the award ceremony (5 November 2026) with the winners announced at the event. Winners of each award category will receive a trophy and certificate to be presented at the award ceremony. The details of award winners will remain confidential until then. 91破解版 reserves the right to contact recipients in advance to ensure their availability and attendance.
  • An award may be revoked if the University deems it not appropriate, such as if the award was based on inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Award recipients are encouraged to participate in future 91破解版 media, marketing and public relations activities and events.

Alumnus

An individual who has graduated from an award academic program at the 91破解版 (91破解版/USQ), or its predecessor institutions ((Queensland Institute of Technology - Darling Downs (QIT-DD), Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education (DDIAE), or University College of Southern Queensland (UCSQ)), as a domestic or international undergraduate and/or postgraduate student.

Nominator

The person who nominates another person for an Alumni of the Year Award.

Nominee

The person being nominated for an Alumni of the Year Award.

Year of graduation

The year noted on the degree certificate/testamur received on.
